Kevin's employer really has been phenominal so far. They gave him the 3 months and continued to pay the same amount they would normally pay for his insurance. We covered the part usually deducted from payroll. Then they gave him an additional 3 months doing the same thing. He really hasn't asked if he could have longer because it seemed clear that he couldn't and continue with insurance. So, that is why he is going to go back and see how he does. At least that way he has made a presence.
If, indeed the FML is 12 weeks a year, does anyone know if that is a Jan-Dec year, or a year from the first FML? That would certainly help things. If he could go back for a hitch and really can't do it, maybe he could take 2012 FML and buy more time.
In addition, they have told him they will let him do light work or will find desk work for him. They are being very understanding.
No word on the CT yet. Hopefully this am.
Thanks for the input! Good to hear.

Fingers crossed on the CT. Here is a snippet from my update letter about my husband at the same time after TX as yours will be this January "energy level continues to improve he is essentially working normal days, with one or two after work meetings, and a before work riding lesson once a work. Physical stamina is not up to par, but is returning. LOTS better than a couple of months ago!"

If he can do light/desk work, I think he's got a good shot at making the two weeks.

CG to husband - SCC Tonsil T1N2M0 HPV+ Never Smoker
First symptoms 7/2010, DX 12/2010
TX 40 IRMT (1.8 gy) + 10 Cetuximab
PET Scans 6/2011 + 3/2012 clear, 5 year physical exam clear; chest CT's clear of cancer. On thyroid pills. Life is good.

Hi Maria,
So far so good. Thanks for the humidifier idea.
He's eating a lot of yogurt and bland soups but at least he's eating! He had a salad last night, but then hurt this am. Not sure if the 2 were related or not!

It was clear! Just inflammation. Now he is back to work in Alaska! He's been there for 5 days so far and is doing well. They are taking it easy on him!!

Thank you. Is it your brother that you were taking care of? How are things now? What type of follow up is he doing?
