Hello! I am a dental hygienist who has been seeing a woman over the last two years, every 3 months, in my dental office. She had her tongue removed about 10 years ago and retained most of her teeth. She notes a constant burning in her mouth that has gotten worse over time. Her cheek and gum tissue on the lower right of her mouth have become more sensitive and inflammed over the last few visits. So much so that she has a limited opening of her mouth and doesn't tolerate me trying to clean around there very well. The dentist has prescribed Peridex, an antibiotic rinse, which I showed her how to use with a long cotton applicator (Q-tip) soaked in the Peridex. Since she can't tolerate much liquid in her mouth, this seemed to be our best idea to help with the infected area. However, it hasn't seemed to help much.
I really want to help make her more comfortable and do the best for her about saving her teeth. I have grown to admire this woman and I'm seeking someone with any ideas or suggestions to help her. Thank you for reading!
