Things havent changed 31/2 years out still lots of pain but I am living with it. Still have the peg tube and probably will forever, I have made a decision to start weaning myself off some of the drugs I am on, starting with Gaberpentin, just to see how I go. Have not discussed this with my doc yet, but will on my next visit next week.

If you are on a variety of meds for pain, you might want to have them all on your own list to look at with your doctor. He/she will have all this info on your chart, of course, but if you work with your own list, it may help clarify things for both of you, and make the visit more of a collaborative effort. If your doctor is not a pain specialist, you might want to ask if a referral to a neurologist specializing in this area might be helpful.

I have dropped off a couple of pain meds and the pain is just about driving me nuts, so either I go back on them or we try something new.
Anyway thanks again

Best wishes for your visit today but if you feel that you are not getting the right pain treatment I would ask for a referral to a specialist. When is your next visit at the cancer clinic?? Do you need to go to Brisbane? Gabriele

Will see how it goes over the next week or so. My Pain Doc is in Brisbane, my local Doc is here in Coffs Harbour where we have moved to, I have to go back to Brisbane inn four weeks to see my Onco and my ENT. I get tired of the travelling even though it is only five hours. I apologise for having a winge but putting it down on paper oops screen seems to make me feel better about things.

I am happy to see you are working with your GP now when withdrawing from medications. I hope you have a good visit when you meet up with your Oncologist and ENT in a few weeks in Brisbane. It is a long trip but can you somehow put in something nice to do say..half way there or back to make it a little more enjoyable. I know there are lots of nice places between Coffs and Brissy. Keep us posted Gabriele
