Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I must confess that I called UPMC and canceled the Drs appt. for the 23rd. I don't think I want to be 1st again. I don't think anyone has had the surgery to lower their stomache yet and it seems I have been 1st only one time that came out right. That was the staple in my right bicept tendon back in 1972 at the Same Hospital. I and the Dr both were satisfied with the outcome. Don't get mad at me. Summer is slowly coming and I want to be at my best with Mother Nature. We have a lot of work to do around this place. That and I just have to plant a garden. By we I mean me and old Nature gal.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs. TX completed January 2008. PEG out mid- 2008. Who could ever be mad at you?!? Besides, you gotta enjoy life and get your garden in. It's hard enough to undergo more surgery...but having one that doesn't have some history of being done before? I don't blame you for opting out. As long as you are doing okay without it, let someone else be the guinea pig!

Ex-spouse MISDIAGNOSED with SCC-HN IVa 12/10. Tonsils out 1/11. 4 teeth out 2/11. TX Erbitux x2, IMRT x2 2/11. 2nd opinion-benign BCC-NOT CANCER 3/11. TX stopped 3/11. New doctors 4/11. ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.

But until and if that happens, I'm going to be myself and enjoy this life as is. We can't live on "What Ifs". My Angels came to my rescue yesterday too. My yard was looking shabby and I wanted to mow it. The rains stopped, the sun came out with just a nice breeze to dry thr grass some. I took advantage and mowed with my hand mower. I finished the front and both sides before the clouds returned. I put the mower in the shed and came back to the house just as the rain returned in a very heavy way. Gotta love those Angels. They will be here for me when I need a hand or a swift kick. LOL

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

I'll be in contact with my ENT and Onclogist and let them help with this decision. Take care of those flowers and make them glad you planted them.

As much as I would like to tell you that you should do every dang little thing that can keep you here longer FOR ME, I hear what you are saying and I respect your decision. My objections are completely selfish. You are a huge source of strength for me, and I love your attitute - when the time is right, we all surrender. Until then we need to live.
