Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 128 | hi, my father is 4 months post surgery and is doing amazing well, of course except for the "discomfort/pain" he experiences in his lower part of his jaw, which is all titanium plate.. the past few weeks he has been on an antibiotic for some leaking under his chin where the incision is from the jawsplit.. he had 3/4 of his tongue removed and the portion he does have left developed a white film which the ENT said was thrush.. anyone familiar with this? today was one of "those" appointments.. :-(..

Joined: May 2002 Posts: 2,152 | Did they give him Diflucan for the thrush? You don't want this to get out of control. Should probably also have Nystatin. He should not be eating anything 'white' until this is cleared up.

Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 128 | thank you both.. eileen yes he is on the Diflucan.. he did develop thrush a few times during the treatments back in 2010, and it was painful and was accompanied by the odor.. this is the first time for the thrush since the big surgery back in December 07 and other than this, i think he is doing remarkably well! he was on the antibiotics twice in the last month and the ENt said that this was probably the cause.. thank you again..
