Mary has been complaining this last week that it bothers her under her tongue and along side her tongue towards her throat. She had the area checked about 5 months ago by her surgeon who told her that she had a blocked saliva duct in the area and he was not concerned. Seemed better for a while, but now that area is bothering her again. Seems a little pink, but no obvious swelling or excoriated areas, somewhat painful-or at least she is very "aware" of the area. She does not always do her tongue exercises as she should, finds them a bothersome remiber if the cancer. She has been doing warm water and baking soda gargles with no relief. So I was just wondering if anyone had similar complaints a couple of years out? I told her to make an appt with her local dentist today to see if he could determine the problem-and of course she will need to follow up in Boston.

If it is something bothering her then it should be checked by a doctor. Here is a recent thread that was written about salivary glands. http://oralcancersupport.org/forums...ords=salivary&Search=true#Post132338 ChristineSCC 6/15/07 L chk & by L molar both Stag I, age44 2x cispltn-35 IMRT end 9/27/07 -65 lbs in 2 mo, no caregvr Clear PET 1/08 4/4/08 recur L chk Stag I surg 4/16/08 clr marg 215 HBO dives 3/09 teeth out, trismus 7/2/09 recur, Stg IV 8/24/09 trach, ND, mandiblctmy 3wks medicly inducd coma 2 mo xtended hospital stay, ICU & burn unit PICC line IV antibx 8 mo 10/4/10, 2/14/11 reconst surg OC 3x in 3 years very happy to be alive | | |
