I know its popular with Dr. Oz and Oprah now, but my wife and I have been using it for twenty years. I stopped about three years ago with the cancer TX but the mucous and sinus pain was so much with this cold, I went back to it. It worked. The reason I'm posting this is that when I saw my ENT last week and she reviewed the images in my MRI, she noted that it showed I had had a cold but that it looked much better than she would have expected. I mentioned the Neti pot and she urged me to start doing it daily. She has seen great results with her patients. I have noticed a nice difference also, with an improvement in the flow of the mucous (easier to spit out instead of it choking me) and no pain in the sinus area. Here's a link to WebMD on the NetiPot Do Neti Pots Really work? Here's a link to Wikipedia with a picture of neti pot Wiki- neti pot Everyone is different and it may not help anyone, but it did for me so thought I'd share. When I did a search on the forum, only one post on NetiPot came up and that was in the context that it was too difficult for people. Nonsense. All you do is tilt your head, the rest happens automatically. I got a NetiPot for my son way back when he was in Tx and he still uses it to clear his sinus from time to time! For him, it works great! When I first heard about this, I thought it was some kind of potty training thing for small children!

That will clear all mucous out of your mouth - just keep your eyes closed when you let it all go into the sink - its gross!

Funny you should mention the Neti pot. Another forum I'm active on (not a cancer forum) has many posters, including a couple of doctors, that LOVE their Neti pots and last fall I bought one while fighting a mild cold. I had to pull it back out again a couple of weeks ago when another nastier cold reared its head. I realized I should be using it far more frequently! Especially when I'm out meeting zillions of people at networking events. The colds have been nasty this winter and I need everything I can throw at them to stay healthy!
