Btw the pain has also reduced . so we r happy .he is going to OR on 22nd of march. we are very optimistic.the docs hace explained many things ... yes Angelia they said they think he got necrosis due to radition but with surgery they will do biospy n find for sure why it happened. They also reduce the hydromorphone . he is not that drowsy but still lost .. his short term memory loss is still here. will this go away?I wonder....

It could also be related to age, but I would lean towards the drugs... Tell your GP - or specialist ask if there is something you can do. Best of luck!

His team of docs it seems that had done there home work alreay thank God. they told us the necrosis of tongue can happen with radiation.and sice part of the dead tissue was kind of seperated and they wanted to do the surgery in emergency and take out the dead part and since it was a rare case for them they had a BIG team of doctors/ surgeons . they were afraid of using GA so they opted for some thing similar to local (which apperntly worked for 3 hours) when they opened him up ( his mouth) theuy found that the major part of the tongue was dead( necrosis of the tongue). they took almost the whole thing out . and had to do treacotomy( I hope I spelled that correct)as well. he is now in observation unit. and we are waiting for the biopsy . BTW they also changed his pain killers which were making him forget every thing. we are waiting now... .

He gave me such a nice smile..... It took all my strength not to cry and keep on smiling and telling him about his grand kids. he is still in observation unit. we are taking one day at a time.
