Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 595 | HI If anyone was watching NASCAR in Atlanta this weekend you will that they are offering free Head and Neck Cancer at the race track to all fans and race crew members. On scene they have 7 teams of Doctors doing the screenings. People were standing in line for an hour to be screened. So we made it on national TV with a major organization leading the way. Just thought people would like to know. Bob
Bob age 57, non smoker,non drinker, ended treatment on 11 Nov 2007 and started back to work on 29 Nov 2007. Veterans Day 2012 the Battle was lowered, folded, Taps was played and the Flag buried as I am know a 5 year survivor. Semper-FI !!!

Diagnosed May 2002 with Stage IV tongue cancer, two lymph nodes positive. Surgery to remove 1/2 tongue, neck dissection, 35 radiation treatments. 11/2007, diagnosed with cancer of soft palate, surgery 12/14/07, jaw split. 3/24/10, cancer on tongue behind flap, need petscan, surgery scheduled 4/16/10

I caught a news blip about it and I was very impressed. NASCAR attracts so many, young and old and have the reach to help out and influence us in many aspects of our lives. I'm tremendously impressed that they are supporting the efforts of so many who are involved in H&N and OC cancer detection and prevention. Lets hope more influential groups also take up the cause.
