Radiation of the neck could possibly be a cause. Once you have the thyroid removed or effected by radiation a replacement treatment is needed. This may be a long process that requires frequent monitoring. He is however scheduling a PET scan due to horrendous lower back pain and a knotin my lower back that has shown up over the last week.

This time on thyroid damage done by radiation and the treatment thereof. You make the fix sound soooo much more complicated than it really is. A blood test for TSH every year, if that, and one pill a day fixes it nicely.

Even though you may be running in the normal range, is it YOUR normal?? I began feeling more fatigued when I thought I was getting better along with a few other symptoms and just knew it was my thyroid. After having it tested, my labs kept coming up normal. I did some looking through my old labs pretx and even though all was normal, it definately wasn't my old normal range so they agreed and put me on thyroid meds. It's definately helped me and probably needs to be upped a bit more on the dosage. I would compare what your tsh use to be to what it is running now a days. Hope that helps!
