I was diagnosed in late January this year and went through my treatment in Vancouver, Canada, but now find myself living in London, England, and I would be interested in communicating with, and possibly meeting up with, people on this site who are located in London.
I'm a San Franciscan by birth and upbringing, and have ended up in London with my wife via Vancouver, Canada and Edinburgh, Scotland. I'm not working yet, and I don't know anyone here, and that's proving a rough combination.
I think it might be very interesting if this site considered regional forums? Not trying to make lots of work for anyone, of course.
As for me, I've been told I'm in remission. That is a very positive outcome that I wasn't willing to even hope for. Now I need to figure out what comes next!
Thanks,
-Seth

With our forum search function you can search the 7500 members by geographic locations. But the issue of privacy in most people's minds prevents them from even filling it out with something more than USA or UK or whatever. Some even put in things like the sunny southwest..... So while it is something that we have considered, getting people to be honest and open in their profiles with at least their city and state, isn't going to happen. Many people fear that an employer or whomever may learn something about them from their postings that might negatively impact them. Given our recent discussions about the loopholes in Facebook, that concern is unfortunately real. http://oralcancersupport.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showmembersWhile mine is set to show members by number of posts, you can just as easily sort them by geography. All this is under the user list at the top of the page

For what it's worth, I would never use Facebook for anything this personal! In fact, I don't use Facebook much at all any more, because I'm too old to figure out what other people can see. It was novel for a time, but for me, for the most part, Facebook has had its day.
I'm interested as much as anything in getting some help figuring out why anyone would want to live in London! I'm somewhat trapped here by circumstance, and not working, without friends nearby, and that combination is proving very challenging. Oh well, as I keep telling myself, at least I have a life to work with (and to fret over).
