If it was me I would go to the Oral Surgeon then take it from there. A Cancer Center might help you work out a payment plan or you might be eligible for some kind of health coverage like Medicaid.

As far as your husband saying it's not cancer is he a Doctor?

You went to an ENT with a firm pathology report of a carcinoma in situ and he did NOTHING???? This guy should be reported to the medical board. If this has had a chance to proser into something more dangerous and more difficult to treat, then you have course for legal remedy. That will pay for your treatments..... Find a good lawyer and have him call me.

Hi Lisa and Welcome. As a caregiver in the beginning I to didn't realize or seem to believe my sister had cancer. She looked fine how could that be? Reality hit big after surgery. Everyone deals with it differently. Hope you follow up with a dr though.

It's must be easy to look fine. LOL I still look great until they look at my turkey neck and sunken in gums. LOL look like Popeye remade. Never did lose my hair and was supposed to. Actually, this has just started bothering my mind lately but I tyhink that is bacause my jaw bones are deteriorating bad. I think the left lower is almost completely gone. It's a tough world but I'll keep it and fight to stay awhile longer.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Hi Lisa
I am sorry to have to be so blunt but your doctor has already told you that you will die without treatment. How fast is impossible to say as oral cancer affects so many parts of the mouth and grows at different rates in different people. You are in a tough situatio with no insurance and no cancer centre in your area but I am sure your regular doctor will be help you manage this. Have you been to the oral surgeon yet? What did he or she say?

Lisa,

Where is the Oral Cancer in your mouth, tongue, cheek, throat, where is it located?

Cancer Centers will work with you they have social workers who will help you. You might be qualified for Medicaid.

I hope you get your appointment ASAP this is a very aggressive cancer.

Connie
