I am a 26 yr old black female. About a month ago I had a biopsy to remove a black spot that started small and grew to about 2cm in size. The spot was close to the corner of the mouth. The oral surgeon explained that they send the specimen to about 5 labs for testing. The first 2 results have come back showing no malignancy. I still have yet to here from the other labs.
The scar from the surgery did not heal very well as I have what, I believe is a line of scar tissue and my cheek still feels swollen. Now, further back on the same side of my cheek, by my last molars there is an area that feels strangely and another small black spot (dot) has appeared. A few hours later on the opposite cheek another small dot has appeared. I have a follow up with the oral surgeon on Thursday. Although because he quadruple books his appointments I doubt he will give me more than a quick glance. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? Or even any specific testing I should ask for when I see the surgeon?
Thanks in advance. | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,311 Senior Patient Advocate Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | Senior Patient Advocate Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,311 | It's impossible to say what may be causing these spots on line so you need to be persistent with your dentally related doctors.

I was told by my doctors that sometimes it is caused if you bite ur cheek, other times they can't tell. My doctor wasn't worried at all about mine, and said it had nothing to do with cancer. Hopefully comes back as yours is the same!
