I will be getting a skin graf under my tongue. Hopefully the release will be final this time. This is surgery number 5 since Oct 1st 2009. I finally got ahold of my ENT who insured me that my speech will not get worse. Why don't I feel comforted. I have chosen to do this with gentle anistectics, I am tired of being put under. The dr said he has to keep my tongue imobile for at least 4 days. With previous experiance, I have already started eating. Here goes several more weeks of not eating. oh well. Tomorrow I am going to the MN state fair..I am going to eat all day !!

The surgery went well and after about the first 4 days things got better. Man, its amazing how quick we lose weight after a few days on a clear liquid diet. I lost about 8lbs in 5 days. Which isn't really a bad thing. Anyway, I am happy with the results so far. I have to keep stretching and moving my tongue so it doesn't grow back down (which is a little painful) but am pushing through. I have touched the roof of my mouth with my tongue for the first time in almost a year. I can almost lick my own lips and I don't have to use my finger quite as much to move my food around. WooHoo!! So so far so good. I am hoping that once my tongue is completely healed I will be able to go totally off the pain meds.
Thanks for your well wishes everone. Wendy
