Thanks for the positive thoughts and wishes, they all helped us. It was also nice to find out about alternative treatments and that you can have radiation a second time. We actually got a great report from his MD, he says everything looks good. I've been affraid to type because I feel nervous my dad won't get radiation. His doctor at the CCC said he sees no need for it and that everything went well, so now he will only have check ups every 3 months. On the other hand I'm very happy for him because he looks so fine. I guess we'll keep watching him and will hope for the best. I know he is in good handsE.verything is back to normal at home, and it is even better because we know we should keep an eye on it... I guess I will be posting in coping with fear but I am really so happy with his recovery, I just can't describe to you how I feel. Thank you for being there. Love, Benfry P.S. My Dad: Squamous Cell Carcinoma,Stage 2, Right side of Tongue Dx 7/19/10 Partial glossectomy and neck dissection 8/18/10 Reocurrence: 04/2011 Base/back of Tongue right side Surgery: Partial glossectomy, flap 06/15/2011 Rad and Chemo finished on Sept/ Oct 2011 Recovery and assimilation. Aunt diag. 2/4/10 with SCC Stage I/II on left side of tongue. Surgery 2/19/10 part. gloss./neck diss. on left side/free flap from chest muscle. TI/II,NO,MO. Clear margins with perineural invasion. Started rads 4/8/10 - 35 treatments, finished 5/26/10.
