Petey was a big part of the heart and soul of this board, as he symbolized all of the goals of the awareness effort. He met his challenges with grace and humor, and he will be sorely missed.

Thanks for posting Stella. We were all wondering when he stopped posting.

Petey was such a presence here after he found us that I think he touched everyone. Besides helping others on the forum, he did an awful lot to put this cancer in the media in FL. May he RIP and enjoy that mug with Robin. My deepest sympathy to you and your entire family.

Take care,
Eileen

Here is the notice of his death from the Palm Beach Post. Note that he requested that contributions be made to OCF as well as to the Palm Beach hospice program.

Stella,

Thank you for sharing the news of Petey. He was truly on of a kind. My heart goes out to you and his family at this difficult time, but knowing he is in a better place, no longer suffering and in pain, can comfort somewhat the loss. My sister passed away on 8/11/07 and I hope they are able to see each other "up" there. We know the loss you are feeling as many do on this website. I'm so sorry and will miss Petey's posting, the truly was an inspiration to many.

I also had a feeling that Petey would be leaving us soon. He had such spirit, I was hoping he would be one of the lucky ones.

Love to you Petey, you are now resting peacefully.

So sorry to hear of Petey's passing. It comes as a shock. I'm relatively new to the board but he touched me tremendously since my very first post. I wondered why I hadn't heard from him.

My thoughts and prayers to his family. Now he can fly with the angels.

Oh I am so terribly sad and sorry that he had to leave us all. He was so kind to me and always with a joke. It is so strange, I hardly knew him but then he knew everyone so well.

Please let him be in peace we pray.

So sad to come back from a two week vacation and read all of this.... Petey and Alan's passing, and Minnie having to face her recurrence. It breaks my heart... but I know Petey is up there with God looking down at all of us and still spreading his blessings and jokes...

Just saw this news article about Petey's death in his local paper, the Palm Beach Post, which had interviewed him several months ago.

OCF is prominently mentioned.
