I had been thinking ofallowing the use of my desk top home computer for this research since my laptop is the one I use mostly all the time. But my laptop is connected wirelessly to my desktop, so would that make a difference? And they are both Macs. Is this research only for PC's?

can you elaborate on your setup.
Are you using an airport to connect to wirelelessly, or is your desktop connected via an ethernet cable?

Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | Markus - I have an airport for wireless connection with my laptop. It's a Buffalo Air Station Turbo G. And the cable company put in a Webstar modem. Both the desktop and laptop have Mac OSX. So do you think my desktop may be eligible to volunteer?

Not being a true MAC-geek myself (all tho I do have a better understanding of OSX since it is a divertive of BSD Unix), from what I do know, your setup looks like it will be fine.

.. I do not think that it matters either way.
What you may want to check is your sharing setup (system preferences) (services/firewall/internet). If you do not use remote login on your labtop you can disable this (as ftp access etc).
