Patty,

Excellent!!! With your upcoming move it's good to have things set up in advance.

Dr. Goldman does have excellent staff and helped Carol get the necessary appointments and CT scan to get the ball rolling after her initial diagnose.

I found the clinical trial list at http://www.hscj.ufl.edu/medicine/research-affairs/search/Default.aspx.

The clinical trial I was thinking out loud about is here: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00047008?term=shands+jacksonville&cond=%22Carcinoma%2C+Squamous+Cell%22&rank=2

Unfortunately it began in 2002 and all other clinical trials at Shands-Jacksonville regarding OC is being documented for Quality of Life Issues and Medical Records. My bad (as they say). But the trials do state Proton Therapy. (???)

Patty-
Just curious in case I need this info. Was Sept. 24 the earliest available for Dr. Goldman, or are you not in GA yet and just making plans? My husband is retired navy so we have Tricare Prime, and Dr. Goldman is on the provider list. I am just wondering if my bx are positive, if I should try to get in with Goldman from the start for whatever surgery I might need? But if it is going to take weeks I don't know that that is such a good idea.

Waiting for Tuesday is killing me. I guess everyone is stressed out by the waiting-- one minute I think I am fine and the next I am in tears.

We're still in Sitka and will not be in GA until mid August. I was gauging my time required for us to move, set up house, visit family and get into the medical system at Kings Bay so I could get my referral. We have Tricare Prime also.

When I called his first openings were in August, but that was too soon for me. Your care would be different than mine and I'm sure they would get you in quickly.

The wait is horrible. Once we found out that it was cancer I just cried in the shower. After about two days of this, my husband knocked on the door and said.....are you done having your pity party? I hope no one takes offense to that, but my husband knows me well and that was the ticket to pull me up by my boot straps. smile

Just remember that whatever happens you'll have all of us to help. It's just a bump in the road.
