I used to have a glass of red wine occasionally, now that burns like whiskey.
Will that ever change?

Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

I was craving Indian food while I was in treatment. Now I've been out of treatment five months and still haven't had any. I guess I have technically eaten Mexican, but I can only eat fajitas with cheese and sour cream, no salsa or onions, etc.

His mouth is still very sensitive but his taste is slowly.........returning.

I would have to guess that it was over 2 years post Tx before even pepper didn't feel too hot. lol Each of us certainly can be different in all respects of our recovery so my advice to all is to keep trying things that don't taste right or are uncomfortable. I'm not suggesting try them every day but try something and then try again in a couple of months. Just don't get discouraged. Heck I even saw a slight improvement in my saliva and taste in my 24th month post Tx.

I am 3� years post treatments and for me the spicy is the last thing to tolerate. It's getting better, but it is just slow....

7 months out and I just started eating at the Mexican place again. I go for the milder stuff, but was pleasently suprised I could even enjoy that. Tried some mildly spicy chili the other day and made it all the way through a cup. I'll have to work my way up to a bowl.
I think it was tristeve who said he breaks out in a sweat with spicy foods. I get that a bit too now, but am generaly so happy to be tasting and enjoying more foods that I don't care.

Italian capacola is the worst, and I was raised on it. I keep trying every few weeks or so and will continue to do so until I can get it down!
Age 57 at dx on 3/30/2009 by Dentist SCC of R tonsil S2 Poorly Differentiated - 2.5 cm Rad - IMRT 5x a wk for 8 wks starting 5/4/2009 No Chemo Last Rad treatment was 6/26/2009. Two years down as of 3/30/2011! God bless all affected by this monster called cancer!

It will get better over time, I try stuff from time to time to see if it's changed. Mash potatoes once burned my throat!LOL If I do eat something that is spicy to me (definately not spicy to others), I too will break out in a sweat and need to cool off my throat with a milkshake but if it helps me gain some weight back then I'm downing as much as I can tolerate!

BOT T3N2M0 No surgery, 38radiation treatments,4 chemo rounds, peg removed 11/08, still have a port. Treatments ended 6/20/08. So far, so Good ! "I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much !"
