Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 19 | Mike's PET was clear, saw ENT due to hoarseness and dr found a polyp on his vocal cord.
Dr said he does not think it's cancer, but he will take it out and biopsy.
Has anyone ever had a benign or cancerous polyp on vocal cords as a recurrence?
It's so small dr said PET would not have picked it up even if it was cancerous.
Mike originally had no primary.

Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,552 | Lots of vocalists get polyps from singing too loud or using bad technique. They can be caused when the vocal cords rub together.

Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 19 | Mike's surgery is scheduled for Monday. We cancelled a trip to see family in CT as the only other available date was August 20th.
Saw radiology dr on Monday as he wanted to follow up after PET and said if it is cancer it would be Stage 1 and he would have IMRT radiation this time around, and probably no chemo.
Will let you know.
