Hi Danae,

Thanks for posting! I actually did just recieve an email from the Dallas area. They are planning something in the next few months. Once I have more information I will let you know. I am calling the organizer today or tomorrow to get an update.

So sorry to hear about your brother. I too, had a brother with tongue cancer, and that is how I got involved with spreading awareness. I wish him and your family all the best in this battle. It is a terrible disease and getting the word out is our main ojbective.

I will be in touch. If you have any questions, you can email me at [email protected] or post it here.

Take care

Susan

Hi Theresa,

Sorry, no events for Houston right now. But you never know, I get calls and inquiries all the time. If you ever want to do something, let me know!

Danae,

Did speak with the organizer. The event is set for May 1st, it will be a walk associated with the Concords Baptist Church Make a Difference Day. As I get more details, watch for my posts. It is being organized by students from Baylor Dental School. When we get things finalized, it will be up onour website as well. Take care!

Susan,
I was talking to my husband about this last week. Is there anything in the San Antonio area? If not, I may want to check out the one in Dallas. What does one have to do to organize one, maybe teresa and I can do something together in Houston? I just want to get involved somehow, let me know!

If we did something in Houston, I know we could get doctors from MDACC to do the screening part for us.

Susan,
I haven't been on in a while but am still interested in participating in the Dallas Area event.
Do you have anymore info on this or who I can contact so I can be of some assistance.
Update on my brother...his back and chest wounds are still healing. Has been suffering from back pain. Has therapy twice a week, visiting nurse twice a week. Is able to go for walks now and is really enjoying that. His neck is very far forward and I think this is what is causing the back pain. He had another surgery on Friday to remove the plate in his mouth that was put there when they broke his jaw. He is with my Dad and hopes to be able to go home by the first of April and live on his own.
I don't know how he deals with all of the pain. I am so proud of him and his courage.
Thank you,
danae

Hi Danae,

Sounds promising for your brother!! I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers! I dont know how they keep going either after all the pain and suffering, I have a toothache and I am whining!! They are all heroes in my book!!

The contact for the Dallas walk is Danyelle Scott, her email is [email protected]. It is not a huge walk, but it is conjuction with a health fair as well.

I am emailing another OCF member tonight about maybe doing another walk as well. I am late in replying to her, but I will let you know as well if that pans out.

Take care Danae, anything else, please let me know!!

Susan
