01/2021 SCC stage 3 base of tongue diagnosed
01/03/2021 chemotherapy started.

Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,004 | Thank you all..home from the biopsy and it went well. The doc that gave me my "calming coctail" laughed when I asked him if it was an apple martini..turns out it was!!! All the docs and nurses were wonderful and really make the experience not that bad. When I woke up in recovery the nurse was sitting next to me with her hand on my arm. I guess she could tell I was waking up. She was so nice...I got her name so I can write her a note:)I go for results on Friday...

Biopsy on 2/2/10-Clear
Surgery needed again...no later than April 2011
Loving life and just became a mother on 11/25/10

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | Suzanne, Isn't it a great feeling to wake and one of the medical Profession is sitting by your bed waiting. It restores your faith in them.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

My experience was good and I love my doctor..she is so kind. Just hoping she gives me good results on Friday!!

Caregiver to husband Ron. Throat Cancer. Finished 35 radiation treatments on 11/21/04. 8/2/11 small lesion on lower gum, laser Procedure to remove. 3/6/12 Doc. removed another lesion on outside of his neck. Did a skin graft from his chest to replace the skin on his neck. Went to Heaven on 6/24/12.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.
