Hi:

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! I have a question... My dad just got out of the hospital and has been referred to a sleep study clinic. He is tired all the time and the doctors think he has developed some kind of sleep disorder. He has told me that he does not feel like he really gets into a deep sleep when he sleeps. Has anyone had this problem? If so, I would like to hear any self help tips while we wait for study. Thanks

Sleep apnea is very common in head and neck cancer patients. The sleep study will reveal if he has this or not very clearly. If you do not get REM sleep which people usually have about three cycles of per night, you will not get real recuperative sleep. Apnea seriously interrupts REM sleep.
