The 1st occurance of my cancer was the left nostril and roof of my mouth Oct 2007. That was treated in 2008. A recurrance of the cancer developed in my RT jaw and was treated with chemo which seemed to work, but alas the cancer refused to
die. RT jaw was re-radiated 3 weeks ago. Tx was once a day for 5 days. Docs have said they have done all they can. Next appt is Jan 2010. I have noticed an increase in sharp pain in the old tumor site of my RT jaw. I may ask for an earlier appt to review my pain mgmt. That is all I can tell you about my case of re-radiation. I wish you the best. Don't give up.

Thanks for the replies and good wishes! I've now completed my third day of radiation - 1 session on Monday and 2 sessions Tuesday and Wednesday- 5 down - 22 to go(I think). So far so good but my skin is already redder than last time around but only on the left where I had the previous radiation. I tolerated the Chemo (Cisplatin) really well and so far have no real concerns. I am going home for the weekend and on Monday will restart the same treatment regime as an inpatient. So far I'm eating normally and have no major mouth or tongue problems - I just hope this continues for the next couple of days so that I have a good weekend with my family!

Hello ..my mum has recurrent SCC and had full dose RT 3 years ago, this is a new location (1.1cm) floor of mouth ..the RO said was scared that it would cause osteonecrosis ..but this would be a new area in her mouth .. they said they didn't do cyberknife to the oral cavity, but I've read some studies that have done cyberknife on recurrent SCC on mandibular Gingival with very good results

Thanks
