Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | When I came to after surgery at Ohio State, the 1st thing that came to mind was to force myself to swallow. I had been told that I wouln't be able to do this before surgery. By the time the nurse ame with meds, I felt confident and asked her to let me swallow them, She said that was impossible. I asked her to let me try. She did and I swallowed them with water. Dribbled a little but they went down. It's a force yourself thing.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
