I'm really surprised that the insurance company divulged the info on her husband. Since they are being so candid, try calling them back and ask if there is some way for you to send her a card letting her know how much she helped you and how much sad you are that she has to confront this awful disease, or whatever you want to say. And yes, cancer is a beast.
