In addition to a decent multivitamin preparation you can also consider vitamin D, unless you spend lots of time outside.
Strangely enough, zinc tablets make me gag.
Re herbal stuff....some of that stuff was extracted with and still is in ethanol. Something to consider.
The vitamin D story is particularly interesting.
