Most of the walks we plan are about 4-5 miles (you can easily walk 3 MPH), but the reality of it all is that you can quit when you want and head back instead of making the loop. Walks serve several purposes, it gets a group of people with a common goal together, and people that see a large group of others doing something ask questions, want to know what it is all about, why etc., and though that people get the chance to learn about (in this case) oral cancer, perhaps for the first time they have ever heard of it. We have had patients come to events that don't/can't make the walk, but in the end it is more about being part of it all for a good cause than the length of any walk.
