If this is not localized to the neck I would be more inclined to think that it is infection related. Infection produces painful or sensitive nodes. Cancers for the most part, produce hard, fixated, and painless nodes. Whatever is going on, that exam from your docs is going to be the answer, there are too many variables for any of us here to have a really good reply to this.
