I posted in late 2002 several times. I had a growth on the base of the tongue. Deemed benign tonsil tissue...they removed it. Now I was scoped again due to upper respiratory wheezing and they see that the base of my tongue is "swollen". There are no lesions on the outside this time..the swelling is coming from the inside. I go for an mri tomorrow...the dr feels is the same issue...lingual tonsil (this is the first I've heard this term..didnt use it the last time). However, I sense he is holding back. Last time he scheduled a CT 3 or 4 weeks out and said he was 99% sure benign. I didnt want to wait and my PC referred me to a head and neck guy in houston right away. This time, he ordered an MRI the next day. Here's my question...1)I had a broncosope by a pulmonary dr in December...I had ct of chest just last week and I had an MRI of the neck (this was for cervical) about 6 months ago. Would any of these have caught this if the swelling was that obvious at those points or can I consider this is relatively new? ( wheezing started in April). 2) if this was perhaps missed the first go around..wouldnt I have had other symptoms by now..like enlarged nodes, etc after 4 years? thank you so much
