Ironically, some of my research is on how damaged DNA is recognized and repaired (or not) by the cell. There is a connection to cancer development and also treatment. We are using NMR (like an MRI) but with a higher field and a much smaller specimen (tube 0.5cm x 10cm) to determine the structures of "our" molecules.
Having said this; I have a fair appreciation of research and molecular events in cancer and cancer treatment. I am however not an MD. Therefore any opinion on treatments is just that, an opinion of a lay person.
