Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I think the heavy mucus could be part of the OC after surgery. I have read quite a few posts in here about people having problems with it. The day before yesterday, it took 1 hr and 45 minutes to get that stuff out of my throat so that I could quit coughing and choking. It is very unpleasant & makes one wonder if this is the time you might be choking to death. I can feel for your mom.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
