Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 1,627 | I had my check up at Hopkins yesterday and the doc was very pleased with how my mouth looks. He said it's healing well and showed no evidence of disease. He also believes the questionable node, that I had another CT scan on a few weeks ago, is not cancer. I'll have another PET end of January and I see their reconstructive doc in January also. My doc said it's time to make me look like I'm 35.........even though I'm 46. He was very sweet and said from the mouth up I look 10 years younger! So, for now, we are happy and that's all we can ask for.

SCC Left Mandible. Jaw replaced with bone from leg. Neck disection, 37 radiation treatments. Recurrence 8-28-07, stage 2, tongue. One third of tongue removed 10-4-07. 5-23-08 chemo started for tumor behind swallowing passage, Our good friend and much loved OCF member Minnie has been lost to the disease (RIP 10-29-08). We will all miss her greatly.
