Because it was high at first (102-103), they admitted me to the hosptial thinking I ahd some kind of infection (and I was neutropenic from the chemo at the time). While I was there, they did every kind of test they could think of to locate an infection. At first they thought it was from cellulitis from the burnt area of my neck but they treated the burn--gave me some kind of cream that basically caused the burned area to peel off in a few days (the same way that can happen with a bad sunburn--though maybe that wasn't the cream and it would have ahppened anyway)and I was still running the fever--though it was going up and down. Finally, after 8 or 9 days in the hosp, my MO concluded that they had eliminated every nasty kind of infection it could be and the fever (which was getting a little less severe when it jumped up) was just from my body reacting to all the treatments and it would eventually go away so they released me from the hospital before I caught something there ......
The fever did go away in another couple of days.
Hang in there Lee!
