I had chronic (AKA "Severe") hiccups for a while and it was tough to get them under control - it just added to the misery. I think I just took my own cocktail of Ativan, Zanax and Compazine and it sort of worked. Let the doc know - chronic hiccups are not a good thing. I also tried a teaspoon of sugar and that kind of worked. What didn't work was holding my breath or the paper bag thing - maybe for regular, garden variety hiccups but not this kind.

Thorazine (AKA chloropromazine) wow - that's some potent stuff - same stuff that nurse Ratchet was dispensing to everyone in the "Cuckoo's Nest". You have to play "Charmaine" by Montovani for the maximum effect.

My reference book says Thorazine isn't always effective and there can be some adverse side effects with other drugs. Make sure that you speak with the pharmacist.
