I too had swelling. None lately, but I had it there for a while. I have begun to think, that if it is soft and liquidy (? new word?), I don't worry. My ENT said they are looking for peas. Nodules that are very noticeable.
When you have lymph nodes removed, the liquid must go somewhre and cannot always find a quick avenue.

SCC, base of tongue, 2 lymph nodes, stage 3/4. 35 X's IMRT radiation, chemo: Cisplatin x 2, 5FU x2, & Taxol x2. Hooray, after 3 years I'm in still in remission.
