Just a quick note to report that Barry had his second (6 month) PET/CT scan and it came back clear, showing no sign of cancer in any area. We met with his RO and also, dental oncologist today, and they were both very pleased -- did physical exams, the dental onc. tested salivary function which he pronounced "good" though wanted him to continue the Evoxac until he sees him again in a few months. Teeth all look good -- so far... RO will see him in three months but no more scans for at least another 6 months. He will be entering an HPV-16 vaccine trial later this spring, which should be pretty interesting.

The PET scan did show, however, that he still has inflammation in his lung which could be residual from the pneumonia he had last fall or even a new infection -- we think he is still aspirating a bit when he eats. RO has given him some antibiotics and wants to watch this, did a chest xray today and they'll do another in a month.

But tomorrow he's going to book his tickets back to England so he can visit his mum -- she has of course been very worried about him. I think she will be happy -- he looks great although maybe needs to gain about 10 more pounds. He is eating almost everything now, and even can handle some *mildly* spicy foods again...

Anyway, we are both pretty happy too!

Gail
