My husband Ron finished radiation treatment on this throat about 6 weeks ago. Halfway during treatment he had to have a trach put in because of severe bleeding and the trach stayed in until he was finished with the radiation. There is now a small indentation and scar where his trach was. We've noticed that over the last couple of days the front of his throat is puffy, right under his chin and down to where the trach scar is. I hate to sound mean, but it looks like he has a Turkey's neck right now. It doesn't hurt him, but he sure doesn't like it. He's telling me he's going to buy a bunch of turtle neck sweaters to hide it. Is this just a part of the healing process? I've read about other people experiencing a hardness in the neck, but haven't come across this one. He has been working more lately (more than he should in my opinion)and his job is physical, could that be part of the reason? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Thanks, Shelley
