This is the only published scientific information that I could find on fucodian. It appears to be an effective blood thinner (this was done by a veterinary doctor).

There many unsubstantiated medical claims being made for it in violation of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Only FDA appoved drugs may legally make claims about drugs that are "intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation of disease in man or other animals" and "intended to affect the structure or any function of the body".
