I had finished radiation in December of 2005, by late March I was having some difficulty with a few teeth that were in my field of radiation, then in early april a piece of bone began to protrude through my gum. My oral surgeon set me up with an appointment with the nearest hospital that does HBO treatments, that was Millard Fillmore in Buffalo, the problem is that I live in Rochester which is about 70 miles away. Now my insurance says that since it is out of there service area that I must pay a $250.00 deductible and 20% of the cost of treatments, on top of the 30-40 daily commutes on a toll highway with $3.10 a gallon. It just really pisses me off that if there was a local facility that offered HBO treatments I would be covered, so in essence I will be finacially punished for where I live. This is an insult on top of the $100.00 a week just to commute for treatments. Is there any way around this? How much do HBO treatments cost? This damn illness just keeps finding ways to make you pay.
