Well, dad started round two of radiation yesterday. It all went well. I met up with him and my mom afterwards and socialized with him for a couple of hours. The lump on his neck has gotten bigger, but we have gotten better at managing the pain and yesterday seemed to be an ok day for him.

Today was radiation AND chemo day. So he gets to the hospital, checks in at the chemo desk and procedes to radiation. They do the radiation and it's back to the chemo area to wait.

A few minutes after he got in the chair he started complaining to mom that he felt sick. She thought - Great! And we haven't even had the chemo yet. Then he started complaining that he was hot and feeling sick. So she moves the trash can over to him - just in case - and looks back at him and he is sweating profusely, his eyes have rolled back in his head, and his hands are shaking. Mom called his name, got no response from him and she goes over to the desk and explains that he is a cardiac patient and is having a heart attack and to get a doctor QUICK.

They started working on him, couldn't find a pulse, called the crash team and got him to the main hospital ER. I got the call about 10, moments after it happened and rushed right over. Around noon they let us back in the ER to see him. He is alert and doesn't remember really any of what happened. They did some type of test using nuclear medicine to look at his heart and they say it is in "pretty bad shape".

So, I've left the hospital. Dad's still in the ER waiting for a room - mom's there with him. She just called to make sure that I'm home safe. She will be spending the night with him. Doesn't look like he will be moved to a room until tomorrow.

They want to do more tests to find out why this happened and to make sure it wont happen again. Guess thats how the next few days will be.

So, long story short - two radiation treatments, no chemo yet and the cancer patient has once again become a cardiac patient.

Who knows what tomorrow brings.....

At least when dad decides hes going to have a heart attack he does so in the most convenient places. I am convinced had this happened at his house he would be dead. He lives in a rural area and the response time isn't that great, plus its about a 35 minute drive to the nearest hospital.

As far as continued treatments are concerned anyones guess is as good as mine. I called the RO to let them know the situation and that the RO should contact one of us to let us know what do to do next.

I'm want this ride to stop so I can get off.

Hugs,

Joy
