"Above & Beyond" Member (500+ posts) Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 794 | sorry--forgot to add this. towards the end, mom's gauze or clothing would stick to her and the skin/hyde would come away with it when she tried to remove it. we finally just stood her in the shower and let the warm water gently work it off. for her the aquaphor really did help. she just finished tx's in sept and in oct had her temp trach removed....again she was dealing with what was like onion skin. they placed a bandage over the tracch hole and used silk tape-stay away from that!!--when she went to remove it later her skin just peeled off. so painful. aquaphor helped again.
Donna CG to Mom, dx 4/25/07 with tongue cancer,T3N0,tx began 7/6/07, 31 tx's of IMRT, 8 cycles of Erbitux. Brachytherapy, surgery, left neck dissection and temp trach placed all on 9/17/07, trach removed 10/17/07. ORN of jaw, late effect of radiation symptoms. **lost my beautiful mother on 5/5/11.
