It is a piece of equipment and sometimes it takes a little prodding to work properly. Also on teh first time, they take their time to get things just right. The phsyics claculations that go into the machine are very complex. At least that is what was explained to me by my Onc and techs. Mos ttechs have the patients comfort in mind and will not let you stay buckled up for too long, whoever i was strapped down for 45 minutes once. But only once. It is a very trying experience and must be approached with a calm determined attitude. Once I got that throuhg my thick skull, things went a little more smoothly.
SCC, base of tongue, 2 lymph nodes, stage 3/4. 35 X's IMRT radiation, chemo: Cisplatin x 2, 5FU x2, & Taxol x2. Hooray, after 3 years I'm in still in remission.
