I began treatment today in a clinical trial. The title is "Phase II Randomized Trial of Surgery followed by Chemoradiotherapy plus C225 (Cetuximab) for Advanced Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck Region." It may be of interest to you if you have had surgery but have not started chemo or radiation therapy. Today I had the "loading dose" of Erbitux, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company C225. Beginning next Monday and for the following six Mondays (if all goes well) I will have an infusion of Erbitux followed by Docetaxel, the chemotherapy agent. Also beginning next Monday and for six weeks I will have radiation therapy (2 Gy/Day) Monday through Friday. No side effects at this time, but it has been just 7 hours. So begins the most arduous stage of this journey.

Be well. Zenda
