Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | Dear Malka - I'm not familiar with this particular surgery, but until you do hear from someone here that might have, you will find lots of information on free flap surgery if you go to the search function on the OCF home page: http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/search.htm Just type in " fibula free flap reconstructive surgery", and you will see several links that could be helpful to you. Sounds like you and your husband have been through a lot in the past couple of years but I'm glad you found this site. It's the best place to be for important information and support. CG to son, Paul (age 33, non-smoker) SCC Stage 2, Surgery 9/21/06, 1/6 tongue Rt.side removed, +48 lymph nodes neck. IMRTx28 completed 12/19/06. CT scan 7/8/10 Cancer-free! ("spot" on lung from scar tissue related to Pneumonia.)
