He is basically unable to swallow anything except pure liquids. We have used all types of nausea medicines, but he is still sick to his stomach. He has had some pain in the area around the PEG and they did a dye test to see if there was a problem with the PEG yesterday. All was fine. He had had no liquid or feedings since the night before the dye test. I tried to give him 1 1/2 cans Nutren 1.5. He is to have two cans four times a day. We use the drip/IV method. After 1 can I tried to push the ground medication in the tube and it wouldn't go. I used a pill crusher and warm water to put it through a syringe. I waited over five hours and could suck the contents out and return it, but still could hardly get 30 ml of water down. If I tried to push the water hard it would push the syringe out and squirt the water everywhere. Waited until this morning and still his stomach contents filled the tube. We are going to see the nutrionalst today. They are talking about Raglin to empty the stomach faster. They are also talking about a 24 hour pump. My husband is 6' 5 1/2" and used to weigh 230 lbs, he is down to 206 and if we can't get nutriton in how can he fight this damn disease? I realy thought the PEG would end the food crisis. I spent so much time suggesting different things to swallow, he would look like he was going to throw up or just say no. We are in the last week of radiation(twice a day) so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I would love ideas on these problems. Thanks
