At this point, massage might or might not help, but it can not hurt anything. You are long-ago healed, and you can't interfere with that by vigorous massage. Maybe you can loosen up the scar tissue a little. Also, stretch your neck in every way possible, especially by tilting your head back and stretching your neck skin by pulling your chin up and down.

Perhaps a professional would give you more specific instructions, but I am only a bit more than a year past surgery, and I have been massaging for a long time. It's still a bit tight, but I have lost that strangling feeling!!
