Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 624 | One thing -- if your husband has a lot of gastric reflux after getting the PEG (mine did, he lost 3 pounds in two days from upset stomach -- this was three days before start of radiation) -- ask for metaclompramide (Reglan), this moves food through the digestive system more quickly and helps prevent both nausea and reflux. (Sometimes the stomach seems to "rebel" against the PEG for a few days).
My husband ultimately never needed to use his PEG but most people do and are very glad they had it inserted!
