Platinum Member (200+ posts) Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 207 | From what I have heard, I had my disection Last Jan, the only way they can be sure that the cancer is gone is by the pathology report after surgery. It takes over a million cells to show up on a scan. To me, it was a no brainer. I wanted that negative path report.

SCC, base of tongue, 2 lymph nodes, stage 3/4. 35 X's IMRT radiation, chemo: Cisplatin x 2, 5FU x2, & Taxol x2. Hooray, after 3 years I'm in still in remission.
