Barry used surgical paper tape (sturdier than the paper tape you get at the drug store, which is useless) and we also got little pads that are individually wrapped (look like alcohol wipes) which are made by Smith & Nephew and are used to pre-treat areas to be taped or to receive colostomy appliances. You wipe the place to be taped with the pad, let the stuff dry and the tape sticks well but also comes off easily. The RO nurse gave us the tape as we needed it but we also found it for sale in a medical supply shop. Barry also has a pretty hairy stomach and this really helped avoid the worst of the pain! Each "wiping" works for several days, then needs to be renewed. We also covered the PEG with a large gauze pad to keep it against the body and protected from our dogs leaping up against it.

(However in Barry's 6th week of treatment, the little internal balloon failed and it fell out -- luckily he never had to use it up to that point. The docs, nurses and nutrition folks all decided he had gotten along so far that it would be more detrimental to re-do the surgery. His was one of a number which failed in same week (bad batch, they suspect)...)
